Silver Embossing Classes

Learn the beautiful traditional art of Silver Embossing with Master Silversmith Antoinette Iacobucci. Antoinette learned the art of embossing in Madrid, Spain and has been embossing now for over 25 years.
She has taught both in Spain & Canada.

For Registration: kathleen@mainarterygallery.com / 604-715-2761

"Obviously, the more time spent on the craft, the better and more complicated the piece of art. Beginners would start with something simple which will give them a successful end product, and encourage them to continue to make more and more complicated pieces. Even though embossing is relatively easy to learn, it takes time and care to produce a good finished product. The art of embossing can be used to make many different types of things, from coasters for the very beginner, to picture frames, to embossed figures, to embellishments of painted icons.
The basic tools for embossing are relatively few. Pewter is reasonably inexpensive. Silver is more expensive, of course. There are other materials needed to finish off the work. These will be supply, and if people want to continue, they could begin to accumulate their own. There is no heavy or noisy hammer work it is much more delicate work." Antoinette Iacobucci.

Kari Coleman.
Kari Gwen Coleman learned her first calligraphy script in grade school, and she has been fascinated with letters and lettering ever since. Largely self-taught, she has hand lettered greeting cards, t-shirts, posters, wedding invitation envelopes, and a family tree. In response to her 10-year-old niece's request to be a 'calligraphy pen-pal', Kari began practicing calligraphy on a regular basis and actively developing and expanding her skills and knowledge. Recent projects inspired by calligraphy and illuminated manuscript courses at Main Artery Gallery include hand-lettered books for her nieces' birthdays. She brings a PhD (philosophy) and 10+ years of university teaching experience to the studio-classroom, with the goal of making calligraphy fun, accessible, and practical.
